Public Cloud

A Public Cloud is likely made up of infrastructure, platforms, software and applications shared between people and organisations in a third party datacentre or centres.

It may have your own or a third party’s platform and applications residing on it, likely multiple third parties. Your risks may include the fact that it is on the internet, patching regimes of all third parties, the technical and security skill of the third parties in mapping your data to the right drives etc, your and third party system administrator access, any vulnerability the backend systems controlling your infrastructure the third party may have in place, and backup regimes and availability.
